Dr Israr Ahmed was a well-known Pakistani
Islamic researcher, who was influential in Pakistan, India, the Middle East and
the United States. He was the founder Tanzeem e Islami, which is established
for Khilafah system in Pakistan.
Dr Israr Ahmad early life and Era:
Dr Israr Ahamd was born on April 26, 1932 in the Hisar
district of the present Indian state of Haryana After the formation of Pakistan,
he moved to Lahore and successfully passed the FSC examinations at the
Government College. After completing his MBBS at King Edward College in 1954,
he retained his MA at Karachi University in 1965. He practiced medicine until
1971.
Dr Israr Ahmad Political life:
During his studies he remained associated with
Islami Jamiat Talba and while playing an active role became Nazim-e-Ala. After
graduating, Dr Israr Ahmad joined Jamaat-e-Islami. However, due to the party's electoral
politics and ideological differences, he distanced himself from it and began
Islamic research, and in 1975 founded Tanzeem e Islami, of which he became the
founding leader. In 1981, he was also a member of General Zia-ul-Haq’s
Majlis-e-Shura. The Government of Pakistan awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz in the same
year in recognition of his services. He was opposed to the prevailing electoral
politics and believed in the conduct of the Righteous Caliphate. He was a vocal
critic of Western, especially American, military intervention in Islamic
countries.
Dr Israr Ahmad As an Islamic scholar:
After the formation of Tanzeem e Islami, he
devoted all his energies to the research and publication of Islam. Dr Israr Ahmad authored
more than 100 books, many of which have been translated into other languages.
He authored a number of comprehensive books on the exegesis of the Holy Qur'an
and the biography of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Dr Israr Ahmad had a close
relationship with the famous Indian Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik and in this
connection he also visited India several times. He gained a great reputation in
the world as a commentator on the Qur'an. Without exaggeration, he has hundreds
of audio and video lectures which have been translated into many languages of
the world. Undoubtedly, it can be said that he played the most important role
in raising the true identity of Islam which will never be forgotten in history.
Dr Israr Ahmad was a researcher of the Holy
Quran and he left the profession of doctor and took up the task of interpreting
the Holy Quran and spreading its message and he remained engaged in it till the
end.
In the 1980s, with the military ruler
Zia-ul-Haq joining the Majlis-e-Shura and launching his Quran teaching program
Al-Huda on state television, PTV, his fame reached its peak in Pakistan.
President Zia-ul-Haq used to lead prayers and
deliver sermons in Model Town or in the Jinnah Mosque in Dar es Salaam under
his leadership.
Dr Israr Ahmad resigned from Zia-ul-Haq's
Majlis-e-Shura a few years later. And when General Zia-ul-Haq asked him the
reason for leaving the Majlis-e-Shura after offering prayers under his
leadership in Bagh-e-Jinnah, he said that he had made a false promise to
enforce Islam and deceived the people in the name of Islam.
Doctor Israr Ahmad had earlier slammed
Jamaat-e-Islami on the basis of differences of opinion. He was against the
participation of Jamaat-e-Islami in parliamentary style politics and against
the personal decisions of its founder Maulana Maududi. Dr Israr Ahmad was of
the view that parliamentary style of politics decides on the basis of some take
and some take, while in his view only revival of Khilafah can be the real
Muslim style of governing.
Dr Israr Ahmad has been saying in his
speeches for some time that the enemy of Pakistan is not India but the United
States, Europe and Israel are the real opponents who are responsible for
keeping the Third World backward and oppressing them.
Dr Israr Ahmad fame and popularity at the
public level began with the weekly Qur'an lesson on PTV Pran during the tenure
of General Zia-ul-Haq. The program was so popular in religious circles that it
was eagerly awaited. Hardly any religious program has received such acceptance.
By the time the government stopped teaching the Qur'an on state TV due to a
contentious issue, audio and video recording of his teaching had started under
the "Anjuman-e-Khudam-ul-Quran". It is as if the lovers of the Qur'an
can hear his teachings even today, as they used to hear in his life.
When Dr Zakir Naik, an international
religious scholar, selected Qur'anic commentators from around the world for his
international channel Peace, Dr Israr Ahmed was one of them. Thanks to this,
the echo of Dr Sahib's Qur'anic teachings is now being heard all over the
world.
Dr Israr Ahmad was a conqueror not only of
speech but also of character. He expressed his position in front of the rulers
without any fear. He never compromised on his views.
Life was so simple that the whole world
watched him on TV, but there was no TV in his house. Many times his life was in
great danger for telling the truth, he was asked to leave Pakistan for some
time, but he refused. And until the last breath of life, fearless and dangerous
words continue to raise the truth.
Dr Israr Ahmad Personality and Services:
Dr Israr Ahmad was a well-known religious scholar not only in the Indian subcontinent but also in the Islamic world. He had a principled and lively position on the political, economic and social system of Islam. Even today, not only in Pakistan but all over the world, a large number of his loved ones, victims and students seem to be engaged in the service of Islam and Holy Quran. Dr Sara Ahmad founded the Central Anjuman-e-Khudam-ul-Quran in Lahore in 1972 to strengthen the relationship of the Ummah with the Qur'an.
Anjuman Khudam-ul-Quran has several branches in the country, one of which is Anjuman-e-Khudam-ul-Quran Sindh (Karachi). He was well acquainted with the philosophy of the Western thinkers Freud and Kant. He loved the recitation of the world famous Qari Abdul Basit Abdul Samad of Egypt. He was very much influenced by the poetry of Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, the thinker of Islam and the evangelist of Pakistan. He considered the success of the Hereafter as the real success and in it he had in view the comprehensive rate of Surah Al-Asr.
Dr Israr Ahmed used to say that the secret of
the greatness of the Qur'an lies in its being the word of God. Because the word
is an adjective of the speaker. And it contains the whole personality of the
speaker. Therefore, by listening to the words of any
person, he can estimate the level of his knowledge, understanding and
consciousness. In fact, the Qur'an is a manifestation of all the attributes of
God Almighty. This fact has been beautifully described by Allama Dr Muhammad
Iqbal. He described the event of Armageddon with a
historical background. They were strongly against interest. Women were
convinced of the Islamic veil. Your speeches are available in audio and video
cassettes. Your style was very influential. And the people in your party would
be rewarded according to their needs and abilities. He was also awarded
Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 1981 for his outstanding services.
