Qazi Hussain Ahmed, The Amir Of Jamat e Islami

 


The late Qazi Hussain Ahmed always insisted on his one and only identity that he is known as a follower of Holy Prophet (saw). He always strived for the unity of the followers of the Holy Prophet. The unity of the major parties of all schools of thought, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal, is the embodiment of your dreams. Despite not wanting any position or post, after the death of Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani, he was unanimously elected its president. Earlier, the Solidarity Council was formed with the help of your efforts to control the fire which was kindled on sectarian grounds.


Birth and childhood:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed was the third elected Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan after the founders of Jamaat-e-Islami Syed Abul Ali Maududi and Mian Tufail Muhammad Sahib. Qazi Hussain Ahmed was born in 1938 in Ziarat Kaka Sahib Village of Nowshera district. His father Maulana Qazi Muhammad Abdul Rab was a prominent religious scholar and due to his scholarly influence and political insight he was elected President of Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind NWFP. Qazi Hussain Ahmed was the youngest of ten siblings. His elder brothers Dr. Atiq-ur-Rehman and the late Qazi Ata-ur-Rehman were among in the Islami Jamiat Talba. Qazi Hussain Ahmed started participation in Islami Jamiat Talba Pakistan activities with him.


Early education and practical life:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed received his early education at home from his father. After his Graduation from Islamia College Peshawar, he did his MSc in Geography from the University of Peshawar. After graduation he was appointed as a lecturer in Jahanzeb College Saidu Sharif and taught there for three years. Unable to continue his employment as Lecturer in Jahanzeb College Saidu Sharif Swat due to party activities and his natural inclination, he started his own business in the city of Peshawar. Here, too, he made his mark and was elected Vice President of the NWFP Chamber of Commerce and Industry.


Political journey:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed became a member of Jamaat-e-Islami in 1970 after joining Jamiat-e-Islami students in Pakistan. Apart from Peshawar city and Peshawar district, Jamaat-e-Islami also took charge of the emirate of NWFP. In 1978 he became the Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and in 1987 he was elected Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and remained Amir for four times (1994, 1999, 1992, and 2004). Qazi Hussain Ahmed was elected as the member of Senate Assembly of Pakistan in 1985 for six years. He was re-elected as a senator in 1992, but later resigned from the Senate in defiance of government policy, Qazi Hussain Ahmed was elected to the National Assembly from two constituencies۔


He remained active even after leaving the leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami. Unity of the Ummah was his dream and he devoted his whole life to it. A few months before his death, he formed the National Solidarity Council and worked to reduce sectarian tensions in the country.


Unity of the Ummah is the first priority:

The United Majlis-e-Amal, an alliance of all the major religious parties, is the embodiment of its dreams. Despite not wanting any position or post, after the death of Maulana Shah Ahmad Noorani, he was unanimously elected its president. Earlier, the Solidarity Council was formed with his efforts to control the fire that was kindled on sectarian grounds. The establishment of the Islamic Democratic Union was also the result of his hard work day and night. When the United Shariat Front came into being in the 80's, he was its secretary general. When the flames of linguistic prejudice rose in Karachi, he traveled all over the country with a "caravan of invitation and love" from Peshawar and reached Karachi and returned to Peshawar with a message of love and unity to the whole country.


When the Ummah united in the Tehreek-e-Nizam-e-Mustafa, it took over the frontier of NWFP and remained behind bars. The scope of his efforts for unity of the Ummah was not limited to Pakistan but Qazi Hussain Ahmed spread this message all over the world.


The differences between the Afghan Mujahideen fighting the Soviet Union are the saddest part of Afghan history. Qazi Hussain Ahmed sought to bridge these differences by uniting the leaders of Islamic movements and scholars and thinkers around the world. But unfortunately, every peace agreement fell victim to external conspiracies and internal mistrust. Qazi Hussain Ahmed continued his efforts for unity in Kashmir. Through their efforts, many misunderstandings and differences spread among the Mujahideen in Kashmir were overcome in a timely manner.


As differences between the founder of the Islamic Movement in Sudan, Dr. Hassan Turabi, and President General Omar Hassan al-Bashir began to escalate, both sides accepted Qazi Hussein Ahmed's mediation. Once the peace agreement came into force, but fell victim to global and regional conspiracies. Despite this, due to the constant communication of Qazi Hussain Ahmed, many conspiracies to turn differences into confrontation failed. Whether it is the Iraq-Kuwait war or the issue of Kashmir, Palestine, Bosnia and Kosovo, or the massacre in Chechnya, the bloodshed in Burma, or the suffering of the poor people of Eritrea, Qazi Hussein Ahmed called on the world to unite Always try to be merciful to the wounds of the Ummah.


Qazi Hussain Ahmed and extension invitation:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed, after assuming the responsibilities of the Emirate of the party, paid special attention to the extended invitation. Apart from nationwide caravan invitations and love, special contacts with influential people and formation of various national consultative forums were important activities in this regard. In this regard, a nationwide membership drive was launched in 1997 and 4.5 million people supported the Jamaat-e-Islami's invitation and program.


Arrests:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed also faced the hardships of imprisonment and arrests like any other truth teller. Apart from being arrested during the Tehreek-e-Nizam-e-Mustafa, he was also arrested for protesting against the US invasion of Afghanistan and insulting cartoons in honor of the Holy Prophet in Europe. During his captivity he wrote several important dissertations, which were later published in book form.


Family BackGround:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed has two sons and two daughters and all of them, including his mother, are fully active in the da'wah and organizational activities of Jamaat-e-Islami. Qazi Hussain Ahmed lived in a two-room flat in Mansoura. His family lives in the same flat in Mansoura. He was fluent in Urdu, English, Arabic and Persian besides his mother tongue Pashto. He was a great admirer of  Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet of the last century of  Islam. He remembered most of his words in Persian and Urdu and he used them in his speeches and discourses.


Death:

Qazi Hussain Ahmed passed away at around midnight on the night between January 5 and 6, 2013. He had fever and shortness of breath for a few days. When his condition worsened, he was taken to a private hospital in Islamabad, but before reaching the hospital, he met his real creator. In Allah and I return to Allah.
