Maryam Nawaz Sharif (Punjabi and Urdu: مريم نواز‎; born 28 October 1973), also known as Maryam Safdar, is a Pakistani politician and the daughter of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif. Early life and education:

Maryam was born to Nawaz Sharif and Kulsoom Butt on 28 October 1973[4][5][6] in Lahore, Pakistan.

She received her early education from the Convent of Jesus and Mary, Lahore. She wanted to become a doctor, so she joined King Edward Medical College in the late 1980s. However, he had to drop out of college without completing his degree, after a controversy arose over illegal admission.

In 1992, she married Safdar Awan at the age of 19 and adopted her husband's surname Maryam Safdar. Awan was currently serving as a captain in the Pakistan Army and was Nawaz Sharif's security officer during his tenure as the later Prime Minister of Pakistan. He has three children with Safdar Awan: a son, Junaid, and two daughters, Mahnoor and Maher-Nisa.

In 2015, at the invitation of Nawaz Sharif, Narendra Modi attended Maryam's daughter's wedding in Pakistan.

She completed her undergraduate studies at Punjab University, from which she earned a Master's degree in Literature. In 2012, she was pursuing a Ph.D. degree on post-9/11 radicalization in Pakistan.

The Panama Papers Case:

On April 3, 2016, the Panama Papers were leaked and Maryam was named in it along with her two brothers Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz. According to records released by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), Maryam was said to be the owner of British Virgin Islands-based firms Nielsen Enterprises Limited and Niscol Limited, and allegedly owned properties in the UK that was jointly owned. In response to her brother, Maryam denied owning any company or property outside of Pakistan and said, "My brother has made me a trustee in a corporation of his own that I only own my brother. In September 2016, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) filed a petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan seeking action against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members for their alleged involvement in the Panama Papers scandal. went. The Supreme Court announced its verdict on 28 July 2017, disqualifying Nawaz Sharif for public office as he was dishonest in not disclosing his employment with Dubai-based Capital FZE Company in his nomination papers. In September 2017, NAB filed three corruption references against Nawaz Sharif and his three children, including Maryam, in compliance with the Supreme Court's judgment in the Panama Papers case. In October, an accountability court indicted Maryam, Nawaz Sharif and Maryam's husband in the Avonfield reference, one of three corruption references filed by the NAB against four Sharif family members in Avonfield. Maryam was released on parole from Adiala Jail along with her father and husband. She was taken to Lahore to attend her mother's funeral. According to reports, Maryam and her father initially refused parole. Kulsoom Nawaz's funeral prayer was performed on 14 September 2018. On 17 September, Maryam was transferred to Adiala Jail along with her father and husband.

On September 19, 2018, the Islamabad High Court delivered its verdict on the bail plea, suspending the prison sentences against Maryam, her father and her husband and ordering them to be released on bail. The court ordered them to post a surety bond of Rs 500,000 each before their release. She was released from Adiala Jail the same day and taken to Lahore.

Personal wealth:

In a TV show with Pakistani anchor Sana Bucha in 2011, Maryam said she did not own any property in central London, let alone in Pakistan.

It was later revealed by a joint investigation team in 2017 that "she was the beneficiary of London Flats and had deliberately never declared ownership of these overseas properties, submitted fake documents, and misled the Court of Pakistan".

In her affidavit to the Election Commission of Pakistan in 2018, Maryam stated the value of her assets at Rs 2,000. 845 million (US$3.7 million).

She owns 1,506 kanals (188 acres) of agricultural land and has invested millions in companies.

Audio leak:

Over the years, several audios of Maryam Nawaz have been leaked.

Recently an audio was leaked on 24 September 2022 in which his uncle, the current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif can be heard talking to an unknown person. In the audio, an unidentified person is telling Maryam's uncle, Shahbaz Sharif, that Maryam is asking for a power plant from India for her son-in-law's business. Shahbaz Sharif then tells the unidentified man about the problems of importing the plant from India as it will be used by former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan against his government.
